Days out ideas in Poole
On top of our organised in-house activities, we arrange day trips for the people in our care. For those looking after older relatives and for family and friends looking to take their loved on out for the day, we recommend the following day out ideas to make the most of your time here in Poole.
Garden centres always go down well with the people who live with us, as they enjoy looking at the plants and gift shop – and there’s always time for cup of tea and a scone at the café. For those who prefer the sights of beautiful garden landscapes with seasonal shrubberies and bedding plants, we recommend you visit some of the best garden centres Poole has to offer. We like Compton Acres because of the variety of flowers and plants within each of the themed gardens and how each garden changes depending on the season.
At Regency Manor, we often take the people in our care to the museums dotted around the Poole area. There are many local museums to visit, depending on what you’re interests are. Why not learn about Poole’s harbour town roots at the Poole Old Lifeboat Museum and Shop, or discover the archaeological history surrounding this ancient port town at the Poole Museum.
Fish and chips at the seaside is a childhood memory that should always be relived. Just down the quay from the Lifeboat Museum, you’ll find one of the top ranked family restaurants in the county. The Rockfish serves sustainable seafood caught along the Devon and Dorset coastline, not to mention the allure of unlimited chips!
Poole Quay is a beautiful place to have a wonder. There’s lots to see – from watching boats pottering around the harbour to browsing the nearby shops. A stroll along the flat seafront and tucking into an ice cream is the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Residential and dementia care in Poole
At Regency Manor, we offer residential and dementia care for the elderly.
As part of our dementia model, we have introduced Dr Gemma Jones’ ‘behavioural staging’ model to meet the needs of older people with memory difficulties. The model’s impetus is on the attitude and supportive actions to make those affected feel valued, nurtured and cared for, regardless of their illness and situation.
