About Our Dementia Care Home in Dorset

Here at Regency Manor, we are considered to be one of the best dementia care homes in Dorset. We are a luxury home, owned and run by the wider LuxuryCare Group, and are located in a leafy residential area in Lower Parkstone, Poole. Regency Manor is located with sweeping views of the sea, where our residents can benefit from superior quality care in the most beautiful surroundings.

Our home is comprised of 69 rooms, located across six luxury care suites, and is carefully segregated to enable our caregivers to provide the best care and meet the individual needs of every resident.

We are a dementia care home in Dorset and have four suites dedicated to our dementia residents. These residents are allocated their suite in-line with the progression of their condition, and one of these suites is solely for our female dementia residents.

Our suites consist of progressive dementia suites, which have been designed interiorly by specialists so as to assist and prolong the independence of our residents, mitigating against confusion and fear. We also have low level dementia suites and two non-dementia suites too, both of which enable us to provide the level of care we are renowned for.

Our Care

Here at Regency Manor, we go above and beyond to ensure each resident receives the superior care they both need and deserve. We go to every length to make sure we know each resident’s needs on both a medical and personal basis before they move into our home. This is achieved through the use of pre-admission assessments and regular care reviews, so we can then create a care plan which is tailored to each resident’s specific needs.

These care plans are designed to deliver the superior level of care and attention we are renowned for, allowing our residents to live their lives with independence and dignity. To ensure that our high standards of care are adhered to, we have curated an intensive in-house training programme that every member of staff goes through before starting work with us.

With the use of these care plans and our intensive training programme, we are able to equip are team with the knowledge and skill to make sure your loved one receives the best care at our Dorset dementia care home

Rooms

In addition to providing the highest levels of care at our dementia care home in Dorset, we also believe it is important to make sure every resident lives in familiar and comfortable surroundings. It is for this reason that we have made sure to equip every bedroom with sturdy and comfortable furniture along with any care and medical equipment the resident may need.

While our rooms do come fully furnished, we understand that our residents will have favourite pieces of furniture they wish to bring with them. We are more than happy to remove any of our furniture to make room for the resident’s own furniture, ensuring their room is a familiar and safe space for them. Residents can also decorate their room with photographs, and we have a decorator on hand to paint the room any colour they wish.

On our specialist dementia floors, all bedroom doors are individually coloured and display the resident’s name in large writing, which helps to trigger recognition, minimise confusion, and promote independence. We aim to provide a space in which all of our residents can live with dignity and independence, all in comfortable and luxurious surroundings.

Communal Areas

Our residents live in suites here at Regency Manor, but we have spacious and comfortable communal areas which incorporate a lounge area, dining area, and a drinks and snacks section. There is also a kitchenette, where residents or caregivers can make cups of tea.

All of our communal areas have been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards using warm and calming colours. This enables us to provide a homely and inviting environment, where our residents can sit down together and socialise.

In our specialist dementia suites, we have incorporated brightly coloured walls along with visual and sensory cues in the corridors. These serve as memory triggers which enable our residents to find their way around the home independently. We also have noticeboards around our dementia care home in Dorset, acting as a communication hub so residents can discover what is going on, any activities that are on, and what is on the menu.

All of our communal areas are kept clean and hygienic at all times by our support staff, who are on hand 24 hours a day. Plus, if they wish to, any of our residents can also help out with the cleaning of our communal areas.

Laundry

One of the most important facilities we offer our residents here at Regency Manor is our laundry service. It is important for both mental and physical wellbeing to make sure freshly laundered clothing and bedding is available on a daily basis, which is why we launder and iron clothes and change bedding regularly.

We use a detergent called OTEX to wash all of the laundry at our Dorset dementia care home, as this is a strong detergent that kills all bacteria, yeast, fungus, moulds, and viruses, keeping the home hygienic.

To make sure none of the laundry gets lost or returned to the wrong resident, we have a unique button system in place. This is where every piece of clothing is tagged with an identifiable button so our team can identify which resident it belongs to. Once their clothes have been washed and ironed, we can then return the clothing to the right resident.

In addition to our laundry service, we can also arrange for dry cleaning to be carried out should our residents ask for it. While this comes at an extra cost and is carried out by an external company, we are more than happy to arrange the service.

Catering

Just as important as ensuring laundry is carried out regularly is making sure our residents receive three healthy and nutritious meals every day. This is why we have a team of kitchen staff, including chefs, all of whom are passionate about creating delicious, healthy, and nutritious food.

Before moving into our dementia care home in Dorset, we will create a food passport for each resident. We will work with the resident to figure out what they like to eat and if they have any allergies or dietary restrictions that we need to be aware of. This food passport will help the chef come up with meals that offer the resident everything they need to remain fit and healthy.

Our kitchen team create everything from varied breakfast spreads to hot and cold lunches and sit down dinners in the evening. They go out of their way to make sure each and every resident receives three freshly prepared meals each day. And, if a resident doesn’t enjoy the look of something on the menu, our chef will be more than happy to cook anything else they want to eat.

Here at our Dorset dementia care home, we work with both dieticians and nutritionists in order to provide our residents with food that will benefit their health to the maximum level. All of our food is locally sourced and cooked from fresh, so every meal retains its nutritional value.

Medical Services

Here at Regency Manor, we know that every resident we care for will have their own medical requirements. We also know that they will need to have medical professionals see to their medical needs, but they might not be able to make appointments outside of the home. This is why we accommodate medical appointments right here in our Dorset dementia care home, so every resident can receive the medical care they require in safe surroundings.

There is a team of medical professionals who are on hand whenever our residents need them. Our residents can have doctors’ appointments, sight and hearing check-ups, and even dentist appointments right here in familiar surroundings.

Some of the other medical and health professionals who can visit when they are required include psychiatrists, occupational therapists, chiropodists, and nurses, both local and district. You can trust that your loved one will be well cared for at our dementia care home in Dorset.

Activities and Day Trips

In addition to making sure we provide all the facilities our residents will need to live a happy and comfortable life, we at Regency Manor make sure to provide a wide range of activities for our residents too. We know that it is important to keep our resident’s minds occupied and engaged, and offering fun activities is a great way to do this.

At our dementia care home in Dorset, we have an amazing line-up of activities which help boost morale and the wellbeing of our residents. As we care for both dementia and non-dementia residents, we provide two different activity sessions, so we can focus activities for our dementia residents on stimulating mind and memory.

Some of the many activities we offer our residents at our Dorset dementia care home include:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Flower Arranging and Gardening
  • Games, including Bingo
  • Baking and Pizza Making
  • Sing-A-Longs
  • Fetes and Fayres

In addition to our daily activities in-house, we also take our residents out on day trips every two days. These trips are organised on a rotational basis to ensure every resident has a chance to get out and about and include visits to the beach, pubs, museums, and galleries.

All of our activities are purely voluntary, and our residents can choose whether they wish to participate or not. Plus, if a resident wakes up on the day and decides they don’t wish to participate in the activity after all, that is perfectly find and they can choose to opt out.
